I need to Find Props! Can anyone help me?
I am looking for realisitc ( preferably metal, though plastic will do) props for coins in metalic gold, silver, and copper coins for cos play and role play purposes. I have not been able to find these fake moneys in silver or copper. I have looked into having tokens minted but the cost is too high for my purposes and both on line and off line party outlets only seem to carry gold plastic and metal “play coins” . Does anyone know where I might find inexpensive silver and especially Copper ones? – Also I would like to try and avoid “modern” American coin designs (( modern currency mimmics))
I am also looking for Gem look alikes preferably plastic or glass in diamond, emerald, ruby and sapphire colors, with out holes and without the flat metal and/or foil flatbacks.
If anyone can help me find places where I can get these items I would be very appreciateve.
walmart, joanns, and michaels, and hobby lobby, in the jewelry making supplies and in the clothing decoration area, you can find all sorts of acrylic jewels that are used to decorate clothing, and you can also buy real swarovski crystals but they arent cheap, i also got fake roman coins, they are gold colored and have little holes in them as they are meant for decorating my bellydance costumes but you can get them and in the bead stuff they also have some chinese coins, though they arent cheap either. if you look on line for imitation coins for decorating im sure you could find some, and i went to a bellydance convention and could even purchase arabic coins and indian coins that were real that could be used on costumes and jewelry. the arabic women in ancient times made their jewelry out of coins so that they wore their personal wealth and sewed it on their clothes as it was easier to carry distributed in weight all over them rather than in a bag. good luck. you can always get copper and silver spray paints to dress up any sorts of coins you find. you could also mint your own out of sculpy clay, bake and then spray paint, though you can get sculpy in metallic colors but they arent really bright.
