How valuable iS MY RARE GOLD US COIN PLEASE HELP!?
I have a gold us state(25 cent) quarter from new jersey. I have searched the Internet and cannot find any info on why it is gold and how much it may be worth (being that I have never personally seen one before). Anyone got any info! Also I know it is not simply “spray painted” it is the same luster as a us gold 1 dollar coin.
Try searching ebay and you’ll see dozens of gold plated quarters. These coins are regular quarters that were plated with a tiny, tiny amount of real gold by a private company after leaving the US Mint. They are sold to collectors who foolishly believe because it’s real gold they are worth every penny of the several dollars per coin they are paying.
They’re not. It takes a nickel’s worth or less of gold to plate a quarter. On eBay, the ones that sell are selling for a quarter plus the fifty cents or whatever for a cheap envelope to mail it. And that’s more than one is worth.
