Does anyone know what coin this is?
On the front, Tomas Estrada Palma and Maximo Gomez are pictured, accompanied by their names. Under this the date 20 De Mayo 1902 is present. On the other side it says First federal savings of Miami, on the top. There is a picture of a lighthouse on some rocks and an american flag on a pole. Under this, it says Cuba Soberana, followed by Serie Conmemorativa. The coin is gold in color.
This is not a coin. It’s a medal or medallion, issued by a bank as advertising. From your description, it sounds like this bank issued a series of commemorative medals.
Coins are money issued by governmental authority. Anything that doesn’t meet this description is a medal, medallion (small) or token. Tokens sometimes had cash value but only with the merchants that gave them out.
